Established on November 04th 1969, Vietnam Institute for Building Materials (VIBM) under the Ministry  of Construction is a national institute of science and technology researching the building materials and other fields including construction mechanics, technical infrastructure and environment, serving the State management and development of building material industry nationwide. Every 5 years, VIBM organizes the International Conference on Building Materials (ICBM) under the auspices of the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam, linked with the celebration of the establishment of the VIBM.

ICBM is a forum for international and Vietnamese researchers, scholars, experts and policy makers to share new research results, experiences, perspectives and learn the latest scientific and technological advances applied in the building materials industry. The objectives of this conference are not only to improve communication and collaboration among the related partners in but also to focus on discussing action programs towards the sustainable development of building materials in particular and the construction industry in general.
